Robert Matheson

   Bob spent his childhood traveling back and forth between the city and his uncle's farm in western Minnesota. Spending so much time in the country helped to instill a great love of nature and an appreciation for the beauty and peacefulness of rural areas. 
    Always a creative child, Bob had no idea that he would someday become an accomplished artist. While he did attend the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, his dreams were put on hold until he began to woodcarve in the early ninties. Rediscovering his love of art helped inspire Bob to further pursue painting. 
  As luck would have it, his neighbor was Brian Stewart- an accomplished Plien Aire painter. Brain not only gave him a demonstration but also urged him to give it a try. This was a life changing event! He has been painting at Plien Aire for several years. He has attended a few workshops but he mainly creates from life. He paints on a regular basis with noted painter Bob Bonawitz, who has helped him become a better painter. 
  Bob resides in Southwest Minneapolis with his wife and four dogs, and you can often find him outside creating beautiful paintings year round.
